About the artist:

A perfect day for me will always be sunshine, a view and a paintbrush in my hand.  When I started working in oils several years ago, I did almost all of my work outside on location (plein air).  I love the spontaneity and immediacy of working on a small canvas in a short period of time.  Plus, I’m a nature girl; I am simply awed by the beauty of the natural world.

Living in the Northwest, winter finds me in the studio working on large canvases.  More recently I’ve taken up watercolor painting again.  I will always be grateful for the excellent watercolor classes from James Green at Principia College.  Like playing the piano, watercolor requires practice.  I want to keep it in my fingers.   Teaching has been a good way to do that.  It’s so much fun to see students discover the joy of painting and drawing for themselves.

Currently my work is represented at Lakeshore Gallery in Kirkland, State of the Arts Gallery in Olympia, Crow Valley Pottery on Orcas Island ,as well as various juried exhibitions throughout the Northwest.
